Chandani Chowk Metro Phase-2: A deep dive into the approved alignment

Connectivity in Western Pune is set for a massive boost with the approval of the Pune Metro Phase-2 extension, which will bring the line directly to the Chandani Chowk junction.

The Route

The 1.1 km extension will branch off from the current terminal at Vanaz and terminate at a new station near Chandani Chowk. This station will serve as a vital transit hub for residents of Bavdhan and Kothrud.

Station Locations

Preliminary plans suggest the station will be located strategically to provide easy access for commuters using the Mumbai-Bangalore Highway. Multi-modal integration with bus services and the new flyover is also being planned.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with a target completion date of 2029. This project is anticipated to significantly reduce traffic congestion at the junction.
